Mary Violet Babin, a native of Plaquemine and resident of Gonzales, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, October 12, 2018 at the age of 88. Vi had a loving soul, kind heart, and enjoyed making memories and spending time with her family. She was a loyal friend and was fiercely independent. Vi loved music, dancing, fishing, sewing, and cooking for her family and friends. She is survived by her sons, Glenn Guillot, Nolan Guillot Jr. and wife, Lesley, Shane Guillot and wife, Gwen, and Bradley Guillot; Loyal companion of over 15 years, Harry LeBlanc; grandchildren, Kimberly Folse and husband, Louis, Angelle Guillot, Kenneth Guillot, and Kristen Gonzalez and husband Luis; great-grandchildren, Courtney Goodman, Olivia LeBlanc and husband, Brock, Nichole Goodman, Fabian and Kamryn Guillot, Avalyn and Emmarie Gonzalez, and Norah Marchand; great-great-grandchildren, Sadie, Brady, and Kadie LeBlanc, and Rowen Goodman; sister Patsy Patterson; sister-in-law, Bessie Banta; niece, Elizabeth Patterson; special friend, Rosalie Sutcliffe. Vi is preceded in death by her previous husband, Nolan Guillot Sr.; husband, Fabian Babin; parents, Jesse Sr. and Nesida Banta; brothers, Jesse, Nolan, Charles, Ernest, and Carol Banta; sister, Alice Hernandez; and great-grandchild, Juliana Gonzalez. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church from 9:30 am until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Oaklane Memorial Park in Prairieville. The family would like to thank Bridgeway Hospice and her sitters, Ashley McAnally, who had become Vi’s closest friend in her final days, as well as Katrina Hughes for their constant care and support.
