Mary Lee Bercegeay Bourgeois

A native of Brignac and resident of Gonzales, she passed away on Thursday, September 12, 2013. She was 79 years old, a member of St. Mark Catholic Church Altar Society, and a retired bus driver for the Ascension Parish School Board. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend and will be dearly missed. She is survived by her loving husband, Bernard J. Bourgeois; three daughters and sons-in-law, Vicki and Terry Vicknair, Jodie and Ricky Puryear, and Rebecca “Becky” and Mike Brignac; three sons and daughters-in-law, Randy and Paula Bourgeois, D. Michael and Arlene Bourgeois, and Tyra and Dana Bourgeois; four sisters, Ozile Babin, Ruby Lee Roddy Babin, Elva Mae Nealy, and Wilma Johnson; three brothers, Carbett and Beverly Bercegeay, Wilfred “Ponk” and Sue Bercegeay, and Valmond and Rita Bercegeay; 16 grandchildren, Justin Vicknair, Randy Bourgeois Jr., Jenae Miles, Chase Brignac, Jeanette Schexnaydre, Joshua Puryear, Chaylon Brignac, Coryn Bourgeois, Joseph Bourgeois, Sean Bourgeois, Gabrielle Bourgeois, Ronni Bourgeois, Jared Puryear, Jacob Puryear, Troy Bourgeois, and Madelyn Bourgeois; and 11 great grandchildren, Hannah, Christian, Mason, Kadin and Prestin Vicknair, Kenna, Malloy and Mylee Miles, Taigon Schexnaydre, Gavin Gautreau, and Roman Paul Bourgeois. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rodolph and Vella Arceneaux Bercegeay; two brothers, Carman and Wilbert “Pete” Bercegeay; and a grandson, Jonathan Michael Puryear. A visitation will be held at Ourso Funeral Home, Gonzales on Sunday, September 15, 2013 from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. Visitation will resume at St. Mark Catholic Church, Gonzales on Monday, September 16, 2013 from 9 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., with Rev. Rubin Reynolds celebrant. Entombment will follow in Hope Haven Garden of Memory Mausoleum in Gonzales. Pallbearers will be Justin Vicknair, Randy Bourgeois Jr., Chase Brignac, Joshua Puryear, Jared Puryear, Jacob Puryear, and Sean Bourgeois.
