Mary "Bert" Bertha Marchand

A homemaker and resident of Gonzales, she passed away Thursday, Jan. 6, 2011, at Gonzales Healthcare Center. She was 85, a native of Acy, and a longtime member of St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church. Visitation at Ourso Funeral Home, Gonzales, Sunday, Jan. 9, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Visitation at St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church, Gonzales, on Monday, Jan. 10, from 8 a.m. until a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m., with the Rev. Boby Alex, celebrant. Entombment in Hope Haven Cemetery, Gonzales. She is survived by 11 nephews, James Allison Marchand, Armand Marcell Marchand III, Robert Irwin Marchand, Bobby Glynn Marchand, Charles Kenneth Marchand, Paul Joseph Marchand, Harold Charles Sheets, Gerald Bernard Sheets, Thomas James Sheets, Donald Michael Sheets and Brent Joseph Sheets; and six nieces, Marge Marchand, Rosemary DeBate Wheat, Carolyn Ann Marchand Herburger, Mona Elizabeth Marchand Bourgeois, Shirley Ann Sheets Russell and Louise Sheets Donegan. Preceded in death by her father, Armand M. Marchand; mother, Agnes Louise Landry Marchand; four brothers, Elmore Marchand, Armand Marchand Jr., Claude C. Marchand and Louis Marchand; four sisters, Cecilia Rita Marchand, Helen Clare Marchand, Sister Louise Agnes Marchand and Herminie Marchand Sheets; a niece, Ruth Lynn Marchand Chatterly; and a nephew, John Wayne Marchand. Pallbearers will be Michael L. Marchand, Armand M. "Marc" Marchand IV, Chance A. Marchand, Aaron Marchand, and Yves Sheets.
