

On Saturday, December 13, 2014, "Shake" went to join our beloved Holy Father in Heaven at 12:44 a.m. at the age of 80. Born and raised in Crowley, Louisiana and a resident of Prairieville, "Shake" was a loving son, husband, father and pepaw. In his early years, he was a Marine PFC E2 from 1953-1956, who served in the Korean War. He was a crane operator prior to becoming a well-known caterer who established and owned Jambalaya By Shake for 40+ years. In the late 70's, he was also the owner of Shake's Jambalaya & Seafood Restaurant on Greenwell Springs Road in Baton Rouge. He loved his business, dancing to Cajun music and LSU...but most of all, he loved people! Survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Joyce Richard Schexnayder,
daughter, Renee Hingle and fiancé, Blake Bihm, daughter, Cherie Zito and husband, Jack Zito, son, Brad Schexnayder and fiancée, Kathy Gremillion; grandchildren - Brandy, Anthony, Nick, Cade, Connor, Kameryn, Miranda, Carlie & Garon; great-grandchildren - Ayden, Aslyn & Maddixx. Special caregiver - Lakaya Larks. Preceded in death by his parents, Alfred Schexnider and Zula Mae Romero Schexnider of Crowley. Three sisters, Rosa Mae Morgan, Lorraine Mould and Marjorie Daugereaux, all of Crowley. He is survived by one brother Elton Schexnider of Kaplan, three sisters: Audrey Boudreaux of Rayne, Deanna Myers of Statesboro, Georgia and Phyllis Walsh of Lafayette. Visitation will be Monday, December 15, 2014, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Ourso Funeral Home, 13533 Airline Highway, Gonzales. Visitation will resume on Tuesday, December 16 at Ourso from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. with Mass of Christian burial at 12 noon celebrated by Fr. Jerry Martin at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 15208 Highway 73, Prairieville. Graveside service to follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory, 11817 Jefferson Highway, Baton Rouge. Pallbearers are Anthony Hingle, Nick Hingle, Cade Zito, Connor Zito, Brandon Hollis and Sean Stewart. Honorary pallbearers are Daniel Simon, David Wingate, Brad Richardson and Billy Gaspard.
