

Michael “Mike” Bigner, age 80, of Denham Springs, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on October 31, 2025 at Rose Glen Manor Assisted Living in North Wilkesboro, NC. He was preceded in death by his parents John Bigner and Dorothy Emily Cable Bigner, beloved wife, Arborea “Abby” Barron Bigner and his brother Francis Bigner. He is survived by his daughter, Tamara Bigner; his sister, Jennifer Durbin; his brother, Sherman Bigner, and wife, Kay; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Mike was born in the United Kingdom and came to the United States at 13 months of age. After High school he served his country in the Navy, and Merchant Marines followed by 25 years of dedicated service with the Louisiana Department of Corrections. Mike retired and continued to live a life centered on faith, family, and helping others. He served as a deacon and member of Southside Baptist Church, where his gentle spirit and caring heart touched everyone who knew him. He loved fishing, tracking the weather, community coffee and cheering for his LSU tigers. He also found great joy in missionary work at home and abroad traveling to Nicaragua for many years and also to Peru to share the love of Jesus with those in need. Mike will be remembered for his even temper, sweet nature, and caring heart, as well as his unwavering love for his family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Southside Baptist Church in Denham Springs, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 p.m. and a graveside service immediately afterward at Denham Springs Memorial Cemetery.
The family would like to express our deepest gratitude for the staff at Rose Glen Manor. We could not have found a better place or group of people to care for him in his final months. You are all truly gifted in caring for our family members.
