“Mike” Eddie George Daigle Jr, a native of Napoleonville Louisiana and resident of Prairieville, Louisiana passed away on February 26, 2021 at the age of 78. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and friend to many people. He retired from Freeport Chemical where he worked as a Maintenance Mechanic. He also is a 4 year veteran of the United States Marine Corp. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus #2657, having served as Grand Knight and numerous other roles, including cooking for countless events, a member of the 4th Degree Knights Msgr. Lieux Assembly #2052, having served as a Faithful Navigator, American Legion Post #81, and The Jambalaya Association. He was named Jambalaya King and also served as Grand Marshall of the Gonzales Jambalaya Christmas parade. He was a member of St. Theresa of Avila Church having served as an Usher and Eucharistic Minister. After retirement and before COVID he continued working at T-Wayne's Restaurant and did numerous catering events with T-Wayne Abshire and friends. Besides going with his wife to grandkids games, concerts and events, he enjoyed spending time in the marsh with his brother-in-law, Al. He is survived by his wife of 59 1/2 years, Ruby Gravois Daigle. He is also survived by 3 daughters, Holly (Dan) Gabilondo, Julie (Marc) Sancho and Darla (Tommy) Mathews, and 1 son Eddie (Karen) Daigle III; grandchildren, Matthew Gabilondo, Katie, Mike and Rachel Millet, Andrew, Cameron, Jacob and Abby Mathews, Brandon and Brooke Daigle, Justin and Julia Sancho and Alex Nugent; 2 great grandchildren, Corynn and Grace Gabilondo; 1 brother, Dickie Daigle; 3 sisters, Sheron Clement, Darla Campo and Sonja Fonseca. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Eddie G “Mule” and Lillian “Da” Daigle; and 2 grandchildren, Christopher and Michael Gabilondo. Visitation will be held at Ourso Funeral Home in Gonzales, Louisiana on Wednesday March 3 from 5-8pm. Funeral services will be at Most Blessed Sacrament Church in Baton Rouge on Thursday March 4, 2021 at 10:30. Inurnment with full military honors will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to the Wounded Warrior Project in Mike’s name.
