Michael J. “Jake” Jacob, native of Baton Rouge and resident of Gonzales, passed away Monday, September 3, 2018 at the age of 68. Jake was a U.S. Navy veteran who was employed as a Sr. Sales Consultant for Sulzer Services of New Orleans. He was a graduate of Catholic High School. He enjoyed cooking and was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing, hunting and times at his camp in Bayou Pigeon with his family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him. Jake is survived by his wife, Lois Blanchard Jacob; daughter, Erin J. Babin (Chance); son, Jason M. Jacob (Robyn); sister, Harriet J. CoCo (Reggie); brothers, Stephen M. Jacob (Marsha) and Joseph E. Jacob (Connie) and 3 grandchildren, Hunter Jacob, Noah Babin and Jacie Jacob. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Josie M. Jacob and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Cleveland and Marie Blanchard. Visitation will be held at Ourso Funeral Home in Gonzales on Thursday, September 6, 2018 from 5PM – 9PM. On Friday, September 7, 2018, visitation will be held at St. Theresa Catholic Church from 10AM until Mass of Christian Burial at 12PM. Burial will follow at Resthaven Cemetery in Baton Rouge. Pallbearers will be Jay Coco, Brett Jacob, Doug Hedges, Brad Gaudin, Frank Harvey and Dale Hedges. Honorary pallbearers will be Marcel Jacob and Carl Hebert.
