Murphy Joseph Acosta, a resident of Independence, La passed away on Monday, June 17, 2024, at the age of 81. He is survived by his companion of 39 years, Sharlene Wilson; daughter, Melissa Bendily (Jerry Don); Alicia Edler (Percy); and Jerry Wilson Jr., (Tiffany); 3 grandchildren, Kelsee Landry (Austin), Trent Acosta, and Amanda Melancon (Chase); and 7 great-grandchildren, Ava, Ella, Ty, Ryleigh, Connor, Aubree, and Baylee. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilford and Lillian Acosta; 2 sons, Dwayne and Chad Acosta; 4 brothers, and 2 sisters. Services for Murphy will be held on Friday, June 21, 2024, from 9:30 am until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 15710 La Highway 16 French Settlement, La. He will be laid to rest in St. Joseph Catholic Church Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are, Trent Acosta, Jerry Don Bendily, Percy Edler, Mark Acosta, Tab Wingerter, and Dwayne Watts.
