A loving husband, father and brother, Myles “Catman” Bourque Jr. passed away Friday, January 22, 2021 at his home in Prairieville. Myles was born in Baton Rouge on November 16, 1950. He was a 1969 graduate of East Ascension High School and also a graduate from Southeastern Louisiana University. He spent most of his career as an educator with the Ascension Parish School Board. He taught at Ascension Catholic, Dutchtown Middle and coached baseball at both East Ascension and Dutchtown High Schools. He also coached football at East Ascension and Galvez Middle. Following retirement from the school system, he worked as a bailiff for the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office. Myles was an avid LSU fan and enjoyed attending sporting events and playing golf. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church where he served as an usher. His favorite event of the year was “Bama’s Feed the Needy” each December that provides needed food for local food banks and Christmas gifts for children in the school system. He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Michelle Bourque; son, Corey (Marty) Bourque, and their children, Nicole, Nate and Travis Marsh; son, Connor Bourque; sisters, Cherie (Larry) Templet, Becky (Blaine) Petite, Kristi (Leslie) Granier; father and mother-in-law, Dudley and Sandra Brown; brother-in-law, Brandon (Stacey) Brown; sisters-in-law; Monica (Luke) Langlois and Melissa (Jason) Verdigets; Aunt, Pheral Bourque and a host of nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, Myles Bourque Sr and Frances Cinquemano Bourque. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 28th from 9:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. at Ourso Funeral Home, Gonzales with a Mass of Christian Burial following at 12:00 p.m. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Prairieville celebrated by Fr. Jerry Martin with burial to follow at Serenity Oaks Memorial Park in Prairieville. Pallbearers will be Michael Blaine Petite , Blaine Petite , Corey Bourque, Carey Melancon, Layton Langlois, Jason Verdigets, Mason Brown, and Brandon Brown. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Bama’s Feed the Needy through Thomas “Bama” Aldridge at 7245 Highway 44, Gonzales, LA 70737.
