Nelson Pierce Morgan Sr.

Nelson Pierce Morgan Sr., a resident of St. Amant, LA passed away on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, surrounded by his family. He was 92 years old and a Veteran of the United States Army. Nelson was a graduate of Live Oak High School and worked at Burnside Terminal for over 35 years, where he retired as Operations Manager.

Nelson is survived by his children, Cathy B. Stewart, Wanda E. Morgan and Nelson P. Morgan Jr. (Frances); grandchildren, Carmen M. Lavergne (David), Brice N. Matthews (Ashlee), and Madison F. Morgan (Anthony); great-grandchildren, Hayes Lavergne, Camille Lavergne, Alexa Matthews, Evan Matthews, and Collin Matthews; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife of 35 years, Thelma Tripp Morgan; parents, John Pierce and Rosylean Wascom Morgan; sister and brother-in-law, Francis ”Beth” and Ivy Van Foster Sr.; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Vincent and Georgia Mae Tripp and Joseph and Sue Trippi, Rose and J.B. Broussard, and Joyce and Marion Crawford.

Services will be held on Friday, September 5, 2025, at Ourso Funeral Home 13533 Airline Hwy Gonzales, LA. The visitation will be from 9 am until the funeral service at 11 am. He will be laid to rest at Holy Rosary Cemetery 44450 Hwy 429 St. Amant, LA. Arrangements by Ourso Funeral Home, Gonzales, LA.
