Noblisse Fontenot

Noblisse Fontenot passed away peacefully at home on June 29, 2021 at the age of 94. He was survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Emelda Delatte Fontenot. He was the dedicated father of Penny Fontenot LeBlanc (Probe), Sandra Fontenot Miles (Charles), Terry Fontenot (Vanessa), Douglas Fontenot (Ann), Dawson Fontenot (Sheron), Timothy Fontenot (Sharon) and Gregory Fontenot (Peggy). Caring grandfather of 17 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings; Ella Mae Fontenot, Ernestine Hoyle, Mack Fontenot. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jules and Eunice Dupuy Fontenot, his siblings; Joseph Fontenot, Holton Fontenot, Ernest Fontenot, Wesley Fontenot, Hilton Fontenot, his son-in-law Bryan Hoover and his granddaughter Brandy Hoover.

Noblisse was a lifelong resident of Whitehall, LA. He graduated from Maurepas High in 1944, he soon joined the Army and was a proud WWII Veteran. Noblisse was a member of the American Legion Maurepas Post 254 and a longtime parishioner of St. Stephens Catholic Church. He was a farmer most of his life, he went on to be a member of Teamster Local 5. He retired from Whitehall Grocery as the Assistant Manager after 28 years at the age of 92. Noblisse was a hardworking man but most important to him was his family. The love he has for his family was unconditional, always working hard to provide them a good life. He often sung a song to his wife, “I love my Emelda”. He will be greatly missed by all of those who knew and loved him.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Night Wake at Ourso Funeral Home in Gonzales on Friday, July 2, 2021 from 5PM till 8PM. The visitation will continue on Saturday, July 3, 2021 at St. Stephens Catholic Church in Whitehall, La from 8AM until the time of Mass at 10AM. The interment will follow at the Whitehall Community Cemetery. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Harold Brandt for his longtime care of Mr. Noblisse.
