Palmyra “Myra” Savoy Mire, a native of St. Amant and resident of Gonzales, entered eternal rest on February 19, 2022 at the age of 90. She was a retired teacher with 30 years of service in Ascension Parish schools. She maintained friendships with many of her former students and fellow educators, even after 40 years of retirement. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, and spending time with family and friends. She is survived by her children Jerry Tureau, Renée Siccone (Phil), Kane Mire, Janice Mire Carter, Beau Mire, and Flor Lutin; grandchildren Zachary Tureau (Corinne), Elise Frederic (Travis), Liz Goad (Brian), Kevin Carter (Brittany), Aidan Carter (Erin), Mitchell Mire, Cassidy Bolinger (George), Logan Mire, and Joshua Lambert (Gena); great grandchildren Etienne, Craig, and Lee Tureau, Banks and Gentry Frederic, Brady and Henry Goad, Jackson and Jonas Carter, and Fern Lambert. Also survived by her siblings Fred Savoy (Dolores), Richard Savoy (Charlene), Barbara Riley, Louise Ruiz, Clyde Savoy (Carylon) and Carlton Savoy (Yvonne). Preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Harold James Mire, parents Fred Francis Savoy and Juanita Richardson Savoy Templet, and son-in-law Norris Tureau. Visitation will be at St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church, 1022 N. Burnside Ave, Gonzales, LA 70737 on Friday, February 25 from 9:30 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. Myra will be laid to rest in Cornerview Cemetery.
