Paula was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, teacher, and friend. She spent many years caring for and teaching young children as a preschool teacher before retiring. Her love for children extended far beyond the classroom, but there was no greater joy in her life than being a grandmother. Her grandchildren held an incredibly special place in her heart, and she loved them more than words could ever express.
Paula is survived by her husband, David Groce; her daughter, Skylar Moore and husband Christian, and their children, Tyson, Alaina, Taylor, and Kayson; and her son, Joshua Groce and wife Natasha, and their children, Raievah, Maddison, and Elijah.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Broadus and Nina Asher, and her sister, Lisa.
Paula’s life was not without struggles. She fought battles with addiction and mental health that became especially difficult toward the end of her life. Those battles, however, were only one part of her story. They do not erase the woman she was, the children she helped teach and nurture, the family she created, or the tremendous love she had for her grandchildren.
Those who loved Paula will remember more than the difficult days. They will remember her love, her laughter, the memories she created, and the pieces of herself she left behind in her children and grandchildren.
Although her family wishes they could have had more time with her, there is comfort in knowing that Paula is no longer fighting the battles that became so heavy for her. She can finally rest.
A Celebration of Life honoring Paula will be held on November 7, 2026 at the family’s church in Holden, Louisiana at 11AM.
Paula will be deeply missed, forever loved, and remembered not for the battles she fought, but for the lives she touched and the family she loved so dearly.
