

A resident of Gonzales and native of Independence, he passed away on Monday, November 4, 2013 at the age of 79. He was a retired Insurance Salesman with American National Insurance Company. He also served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the St. Mark Usher Society, Knights of Columbus and AMVETS. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Patricia Vassil Catalano; three daughters, Regina Landreneau and husband, David, Phyllis Sylvester and husband, Maurice, and Tina Johnson and husband Benny; two sons, Michael Catalano and Philip Catalano, Jr. and wife, Renette Millet Catalano; sister, Jospehine Gendron; nine grandchildren, Nicholas Sylvester, Eric Sylvester, Amy King, Valerie Snyder, Mark Landreneau, Kaitlyn Johnson, Taylor Johnson, Jacob Johnson, and Nicole Catalano; and two great grandchildren, Hailey and Cody. He was preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Congetta Pecorara Catalano; two brothers and three sisters. Visiting will be at Ourso Funeral Home, Gonzales on Wednesday, November 6, 2013 from 5 pm to 9 pm. Visiting will resume at St. Mark Catholic Church, Gonzales on Thursday from 9 am until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am. Entombment to follow in Hope Haven Mausoleum, Prairieville. Pallbearers will be Nicholas Sylvester, Eric Sylvester, Mark Landreneau, Kevin King, and Jacob Johnson. The family would like to thank Dr. D, Dr. Easton, and the nurses and staff of St. Elizabeth Hospital.
