Randy proudly served his community for 20 years with the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office before retiring. Known for his easygoing nature and kind spirit, he had a remarkable ability to connect with others and was truly someone who could get along with everyone he met.
An avid outdoorsman, Randy found great joy in nature, but nothing brought him more happiness than time spent with his family especially his grandchildren, whom he cherished deeply.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 54 years, Anita Watts Taylor; his mother, Doris “Dot” Taylor; his daughter and son-in-law, Stephanie and Steven Diez; his son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Natasha Taylor; his grandchildren, Brittany Diez (Kade Busby), Micheal Diez (Ashlyn), Sarah Taylor, Clara Taylor, and Elsa Taylor; and his great-grandson, Thomas “Tommy” Diez. He is also survived by his sisters, Bonnie Chewning (J.T.) and Sheila Carpenter (Kerry); his brother, Lonnie Taylor (Sandy); his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Pete Watts, Rhonda Westbrook, and Kevin and Toni Watts; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, William “Billy” Taylor; his in-laws, Rev. D-Ray "Bo" and Norma McMorris Watts; and his grandparents, Lutcher and Eva Watts and Ollie and Elizabeth Taylor.
Services for Randy will be held on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at Colyell Baptist Church, 19524 Hwy 42, Livingston, Louisiana. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. and continue until the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Colyell Cemetery.
Randy will be remembered for his warmth, his steady presence, and the love he gave so freely to those around him.
