Ray Bilbo was born in Poplarville, MS on February 28, 1926. He was the devoted husband of Helen Louise Hamrick Bilbo for 67 years, and the father of Garland Dwayne Bilbo (Beverly), and Marilyn Elaine Bilbo Dillmann (John), whom he is survived by, along with his brothers and sisters Jim Bilbo, Paul Bilbo, Mary Gilmore and Alma Castleberry. Ray was the loving grandfather of three precious grandchildren Brandon Dwayne Bilbo (Rachelle), Bethany Bilbo Rasmussen (Joshua), and Amanda McDonnel Galatas (Herman), and step-grandchildren Todd Dillmann (Rebecca) and Amy Dillmann. He also adored his four great-grandsons Maddox Ray Bilbo, Marshall Paul Bilbo, Carter Joseph Galatas and Beaux Edward Rasmussen.
He was preceded in death by his parents Cyrus Warren Bilbo and Ida Rosetta Carroll Bilbo, a son Gary Ray Bilbo, and his brothers and sisters Margaret Morgan, Cecil Bilbo, Neville (Cotton) Bilbo and Grace Baughman.
Relatives and friends are invited to join Ray’s family as they honor his life and memory, Friday, October 26, 2018 at Ourso Funeral Home; 13533 Airline Highway; Gonzales, LA 70737. The visitation will begin at 10:30am, followed by a Celebration of Ray’s Life at 12:00noon, officiated by Reverend Garland Bilbo. The Burial Ceremony will follow at Serenity Oaks Memorial Park in Prairieville, LA, officiated by Reverend Brandon Bilbo.
Pallbearers include: John Dillmann, Brandon Bilbo, Herman Galatas, Joshua Rasmussen, Kenneth Bilbo, Jeffery Bilbo and Todd Dillmann. Pallbearer, in absentia: Rick Bilbo.
Ray lived a full life with his adoring wife and family. He was a Master Carpenter, a hard worker, retired, with a focus in industrial and commercial carpentry work. He was a Veteran of the United States Navy. Ray was a graduate of Pearl River Community College with degrees in Agriculture and Horticulture. He enjoyed church, fishing, and working in his vegetable garden.
