Rhett James Petite

Rhett James Petite, best known as Dad and PawPaw, passed away on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at the age of 57. He was a loving husband, Dad, PawPaw, brother, mentor, and friend whose kind heart, humble spirit, and unwavering love for others will forever be remembered by all who knew him.

Rhett was a loving husband to Leah Noble Petite. Together since they were teenagers and married for almost 29 years, they built a beautiful life and family filled with love, laughter, memories, and traditions that will continue for generations. He was a proud and loving Dad to Laken Petite (Kristin), Luke Petite (Megan), Jessie Petite (Jaden), Jossie Petite, Lawson Petite, and Louie Petite.

Although being a Dad meant everything to him, one of Rhett’s most cherished roles was being PawPaw. He leaves behind his beloved grandchildren, Locke, Ella, Lane, Lily, Lucy, Sadie, Paisley, Rhett, and Leah Petite, with two more precious granddaughters on the way. There was never a day that went by without Rhett checking on his children and grandchildren, often several times a day. He was endlessly proud of each of them, and his love for them knew no bounds.

Rhett is also survived by his siblings, Lisa Petite, Blaine Petite (Becky), and Dale Petite; his mother-in-law, Debbie Noble; and numerous extended family members, friends, employees, and coworkers who held him dear.

Rhett has gone home to be with his daughter, Jon-Clair Petite; his granddaughter, Lundy Claire Petite; his parents, Roy and Sandra Petite; and his father-in-law, Frank Noble Jr. His family finds comfort in knowing he has been reunited with those he loved and missed so deeply.

Those who knew Rhett will remember him as an exceptionally kind and humble man with a wonderful sense of humor. He always had a smile on his face, rarely complained, and had a dad joke ready to make his children laugh at any given time. He had a gift for seeing the positive in every situation, and no matter what someone was going through, they always seemed to feel better after talking to him. His children will especially treasure the selfies, funny videos, and messages he loved sending them.

Rhett was a lifelong, hardworking leader in the industrial field with a tremendous work ethic that was truly unmatched. Throughout his career, he served as a business owner and manager, mentoring countless people and forming lasting relationships along the way. No matter how successful he became or how high he rose within a company, he remained the same hardworking, down-to-earth man he had always been. He treated everyone with kindness and respect and had a special way of making everyone feel equal and valued.

He cared deeply for his employees and loved them as if they were his own children. To Rhett, they were more than workers; they were family. He found great joy in bringing people together, whether he was preparing a large pot of pastalaya at work for everyone to share or cooking under the carport at home with his children and grandchildren gathered around.

Rhett devoted his life to working hard and providing for the people he loved. Yet no matter how busy work became or how much responsibility he carried, he was always there for his wife and family. They remained his greatest priority, and he never allowed his work to keep him from showing up for the people who needed him most.

Baseball was another lifelong love of Rhett’s. He loved the game from the time he was a little boy and especially treasured watching his youngest son, Louie, play. Rhett was a constant presence at the ballpark and never missed a game. Being there to support Louie meant everything to him.

More than anything, Rhett loved having his family together. Some of his happiest moments were spent cooking for his children and grandchildren while they played in the yard and filled the house and carport with laughter. Rhett did not need many hobbies because his family was his hobby. Loving them, caring for them, and spending time with them brought him his greatest happiness.

Rhett’s family was his greatest pride and joy. He was their rock, their protector, and the person they could always count on. Our lives will never be the same without him, but the love he gave, the family he built, and the countless lives he touched will ensure that his legacy lives on forever. Until we see him again, he will be loved, missed, and remembered every single day.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, September 10, 2026, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, located at 15208 LA-73 in Prairieville, Louisiana. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m., followed by Mass at 11:30 a.m. Rhett will be laid to rest at Serenity Oaks Cemetery, with a gathering to follow.
