

Born December 10, 1946, Richard L. Caillouet, a resident of Gonzales, Louisiana, died on June 9, 2024. He was 77 years old and retired from Exxon Mobil where he was an Operator at the Geismar plant until its closing and his transfer to an offshore platform. After retirement Richard worked part time at Ascension Equipment enjoying his interest in engines and mechanics. During the Vietnam Era, he served his country in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Ocean aboard the USS Oriskany aircraft carrier where he was honorably discharged and awarded several service medals. Richard enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, and helping others. He is survived by his wife of over 57 years, Janice Guitreau Caillouet, two daughters, Monica A. Caillouet and Stacy Caillouet Fortenberry, son-in-law, Stacy A. Fortenberry, two grandsons, Alex Fortenberry (Christie) and Trent Fortenberry, and one great granddaughter, Eloise Elizabeth Fortenberry. He was preceded in death by his parents; Sarah Elizabeth "Libby" Greaud Caillouet and Henry H. "Jack" Caillouet, brother, Sidney W. Caillouet, sister, Jacqueline "Jackie" Cedotal, and a host of in-laws and nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held at St. Mark Catholic Church, Friday, June 14, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. followed by a mass of Christian Burial celebrated by Father Martin E. Lawrence. Interment will be at Hope Haven Cemetery, Hwy. 30 in Gonzales. Pallbearers will be Stacy A. Fortenberry, Alex Fortenberry, Trent Fortenberry, Keg Gauthreaux, Darren Lambert, and Terrell Moran. Honorary pallbearer will be Bobby Causey.
