A resident of Gonzales, he passed away Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2011, at age 71. He retired from BASF in Geismar after 32 years of service. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Marion Lassere Legendre; four children, Elizabeth Legendre Warren and spouse Wally, Roberta Legendre Watts and spouse Timothy, Ricky Legendre and spouse Chanel, and Tina Legendre Labatut and spouse Dwayne all of Gonzales; two sisters, Elsie Landry and husband Charles, and Mary Boudreaux and husband Roy; and brother, Ansel Legendre, all of Choupic; six grandchildren, Taylor Ford, Christopher Warren, Randal Legendre, Jacob Labatut, Emily Labatut and Jessie Watts; and numerous nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly. Preceded in death by his parents, Gillis and Lorena Legendre; grandchildren, Ashton Ford, Austin "Bo Bo" Ford; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Claude and Irena Labat; and sister-in-law, Shirley Legendre. Visitation at St. Mark Catholic Church, Gonzales, on Saturday, Jan. 22, from 8:30 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., celebrated by the Rev. Ruben. Entombment in Hope Haven Mausoleum, Gonzales. Readers will be Ramona Cortez and Sandra Constant. Pallbearers will be Kirk Legendre, Paul Labat, Taylor Ford, Christopher Warren, Randal Legendre and Jacob Labatut. Gift bearers will be Roberta and Jessie Watts and Tina and Emily Labatut. He was a member of Catholic Charismatic Renewal, St. Mark's Knights of Columbus, a Eucharistic minister and a pro-life advocate.
