Robert Benton McCrory

Robert Benton McCrory, a lifelong resident of Prairieville, passed away peacefully December 21, 2018. Robert was 95 years old, born February 1, 1923 in Hobart, Louisiana. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. He was a WWII veteran having served on the Coast Guard LCI 93 in the European Theatre participating in many operations and campaigns including D-Day. Robert was a lifetime member of the VFW and the Fleet Reserve Association. He was also a member and retiree of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 198.

Visitation will be held at Ourso Funeral Home in Gonzales on December 27, 2018 from 9:00 am until service at 1:00 pm. Internment will then be at the Prairieville Cemetery.

Robert is survived by his loving sister Audrey McCrory Lapeyrolerie; his daughters, Patricia McCrory LeBlanc, Delores McCrory and Karen McCrory; grandchildren and great grandchildren, Ryan Goodman, wife Ellen and sons Travis, Kade and Jack, Mary LeBlanc Zaunbrecher, husband Matthew and children Aubrey and Dagan, Julie LeBlanc Smith, husband Michael and daughter Rylie, and Holly LeBlanc; step-daughters, Charlotte Buckley Burt, husband Will, Carolyn Shuffield Watkins, husband Jeff, and Julie Buckley McWhorter and their families; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents J. P. (Print) McCrory and Cora Elizabeth Delaune McCrory; wives Mary Louise (Tiny) Cupit McCrory and Edna Craddock McCrory; brothers, Edgar, Eugene, James, and Eldred McCrory, sisters Jewel McCrory Dencausse and Dorothy McCrory Stafford; and two step-sons, William and James Buckley.
