

Robert Edward Montgomery, age 83, and a resident of St. Amant, LA, passed away Thanksgiving Day, November 26, 2015, at the Veterans Home in Reserve, LA. He is survived by his devoted wife of 57 years, Fannie Montgomery; children, Kenneth Montgomery, Robbie Renee and Butch Schneider, Michael and Stacy Montgomery, and Tammy Montgomery. Grandchildren, Christopher Schneider and granddaughter-in-law Ryan Schneider, Karli Schneider, Alayna Montgomery, and Jacob Montgomery. Preceded in death by parents Ossie and Maude Montgomery, brothers and sisters, Martha, Sam, Helen, Ruth, and John. Also preceded by daughter-in-law Nina Montgomery (wife of Kenneth). Bob was a native of Fayette, AL, and a disabled veteran serving as a Sergeant in the Korean Conflict. Bob had a lifelong love of music. In his early years he sang tenor with the gospel group, The Rainbow Quartet. He also served as Choir Director in churches of the Baptist ministry. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren. Visitation will be at Ourso Funeral Home, Gonzales on Sunday, November 29, 2015 from 5 pm to 8 pm. Visiting will resume on Monday at New River Baptist Church, St. Amant from 10 am until funeral service at 11 am. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Bob would be so pleased for friends to donate to the Wounded Warriors Project Organization or the Activities Department at Southeast Louisiana War Veterans Home. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the caring staff at the War Veterans Home in Reserve, La.
