Ronnie was born in New Orleans on December 1st, 1933 and moved to Dutchtown while in elementary school. As a teenager, he locked eyes with a young, beautiful basketball player in the Gonzales gym. He knew he had just found the love of his life, and married our mom, Audrey "Poochie" Bourque Peno, not long after. They celebrated 65+ years of marriage until her passing in 2018.
Ronnie was a proud member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local Union 995 for over 73 years. His years as an electrician left him with many dear friends, and so many stories. After retiring from the Local, he spent many years working for St. Mark Church alongside his close friend, Fr. Herculine DeMaria.
His grandchildren brought him immeasurable joy. Paw Ronnie had a way of making each grandchild feel special, from endlessly pushing them on the swing, serving cinnamon rolls on Sunday mornings, building a swimming pool for them and countless other ways.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Alma Peno, siblings, Teddy Peno, Bobby Peno, Betty Peno and Beverly Peno, his beloved wife, Audrey Peno, granddaughter, Alexis Porta, infant great grandchildren, Isaac Bourque, Nicholas, Thomas, Killian and Zelie Kehn.
He is survived by his children, Rhonda Porta and her husband Colin, Christine Peno, Mike Peno, Rebecca Mabile, Tricia Fernandez and her husband Kris; Sister JoAnn Peno Dawson and Brother Gerald Peno, grandchildren, Rick (Verena), Shane, Ben (Kelly),
Rusty (Teresa), Tobey (Christy), Haley (Cheyenne), Jessica (Eric), Christopher, Jake, (Mandy), Malorie (Zach), Melissa (Zach), Greg (Sarah), Emily (Michael), Presley and Charley J; 36 great grandchildren; 13 great great grandchildren.
