Ruby "Honey" Cointment

Ruby will be remembered as a warm, steadfast woman and a cornerstone of her family. As a lifelong resident of the Gonzales area, she shared a deeply devoted life with her late husband, Willard John Cointment, Jr., supporting him through his many community endeavors and ensuring the future of Ascension Parish.

Ruby was a graduate of the Northwestern State University nursing program and devoted her professional life to caring for others.

Throughout her long and distinguished nursing career, Ruby served as Director of Nursing, leading with compassion, wisdom, strength, and grace. She cared deeply not only for the patients entrusted to her, but also for the nurses and staff she guided and mentored throughout the years. Her influence was felt in countless lives, and the compassion she showed to her patients and the encouragement she gave to those she worked alongside became part of the legacy she leaves behind. For Ruby, nursing was more than a career—it was a calling to serve, comfort, advocate, and make a difference in the lives of others.

She was also a pillar of strength for her family, taking immense pride in her four sons and their families. Ruby cherished time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, creating a welcoming home filled with love, warmth, and lifelong memories.

Ruby “Honey” is survived by her loving sons, Clayton Cointment, Chris Cointment (Kathy), Chad Cointment (Neely), Clint Cointment (Stacy). She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren, Chaz Cointment, Chaise Cointment, Jessica Berthelot (Mark), Cabe Cointment, Carlile Cointment (Briar), Carruth Cointment, Cane Cointment, and Kennedy Cointment. And her treasured great-grandchildren, Addison Cointment, Cade Cointment, Brennan Himel, Bristal Berthelot, and expected to arrive in September, Paisley Taylor.

She also deeply cherished her late sister’s children, Liz Jones Carlos and Jay Jones as her own. They and their families are treasured family members.

Heartfelt gratitude goes out to everyone at The Parc and Cindy Savoy for all the invaluable help and care that they have given.

Ruby is now joyfully reunited in heaven with her beloved husband, Willard, sister Helen, brother Fred and all family and friends that have gone before her.

Services for Honey will be on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at Ourso Funeral Home, Gonzales, LA. Visitation will be from 10:30 am until the funeral service at 12:30 pm. Final resting place will be St. Theresa Of Avila Catholic Church Mausoleum, 1022 N Burnside Ave, Gonzales.
