Sandra Sue Bunce Achord

Sandra Sue Bunce Achord, a native of Columbus, Ohio and resident of Sorrento, LA, peacefully passed away at Baton Rouge General Bluebonnet on Sunday, November 15, 2015 at the age of 73, surrounded by her loving family. She was a loving mother and grandmother with a heart of gold. She was a very giving person, who wanted everyone to feel welcome. Spending time and creating memories with her family was something Sandra thoroughly enjoyed. Sandra liked to work in her yard, cut grass, and paint. She loved to scrapbook and create photo albums with many photos of her family and friends. Sandra was the proud owner and manager of Sandy’s Gazebo Grill in Gonzales from the 1970’s till 2000.

Sandra is survived by her daughters: Tina Thibodeaux Martinez and husband, Samuel; Lisa Thibodeaux Bonnecaze and husband, Michael; Vena Achord Rouyea and husband, Jason; and Donna Achord Villeneurve and husband, Arnold: son, Bert Thibodeaux and wife, Cherri: sisters, Barbara Edington and Michelle Gjurecech: brothers, William “Billy” Bunce Jr. and wife, Sandra; and Michael Bunce and wife, Robin: grandchildren, Victoria, Allen, and Matthew Bonnecaze; Nelson, Samantha, and Jacob Pinion; Layne and Kayla Achord, Joseph Rouyea, Krystn Thibodeaux Martinez, Bert ”B.J.” Thibodeaux Jr., and Chanda Villeneurve Watts: great-grandchildren, Evangeline, Kaselyn, Wesley Pinion, Micah and Ashley Rouyea, Hunter Pinion, Jean-Paul “J.P.” and Krystn Annalé Martinez, and Kelli and Blayne Watts; great-great-grandchildren, Jayse and Liam Braud; Brother-in-law, Charlie Achord and wife, Lois: and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles.

Sandra is preceded by her loving husband, Elwin “E.D.” Achord; parents, William and Ernestine Bunce; grandson, Nathan Villeneurve; brothers-in-law, John Edington, and Joe Gjurecech; and a sister-in-law, Janette Lessard.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at Ourso Funeral Home of Gonzales from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm. Visitation will resume on Thursday, November 19, 2015 from 9:00 am until service time at 11:00 am. Entombment will immediately follow at Holy Rosary Mausoleum.

Allen Bonnecaze, Nelson Pinion, B.J. Thibodeaux, Jacob Pinion, Layne Achord, and Joseph Rouyea will serve as pallbearers.
