

Surrounded by her family and friends, Sandra Jean “Sandy” Bryant Dardeau passed away peacefully at her home in Gonzales on January 25, 2025, at the age of 77. Sandy was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. James H. Bryant and Dr. Margaret Church Bryant and great-nephew, Christian Acosta. She is survived by her three children and their spouses, Keith A. Dardeau (Beth Ann), Bryan J. “Pancho” Dardeau (Michelle) and Dara “Pookie” Dardeau Blank (Brad); nine grandchildren, Cody, Brette, Devin and Savannah Dardeau and Clint and Chase Smiley, and Mitchell, Cassidy, and Logan Mire; four great-grandchildren, Eli, Evelyn, Hudson and Millie Kate and was “Maw Maw” to many, many more. Sandy was also survived by her sister, Linda Bryant Waguespack (Wally), two sisters-in-law, Judy Dardeau Gautreau (Terry) and Betty Jo Dardeau Roux (Bill), four nieces, Rebecca Hanna Acosta (Todd), Rachel Hanna Simpson (David), Randi Hanna Acheson (Mackall); and Cassie Gautreau Sanchez (Scott); three nephews, Stephen Roux (Christine), Lance Roux (Myrna) and Eric Roux; and her loving friend, Lonnie “Red” Lavigne. Sandy was born in Charleston West Virginia on June 3, 1947, and moved with her family to Gonzales in 1959. She graduated from Gonzales High School in 1965. She worked at Jacobs Chevrolet and Lobell Marine before establishing a career at Blue Cross/Blue Shield where she retired in 2007. After retirement, Sandy worked as a secretary at St. Mark’s Church for many more years. Sandy was known for her beautiful smile, her sweet disposition and her unconditional love for her family. She never met a stranger and had many life-long friendships. She had a servant’s heart and an unwavering faith in God. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mark’s Catholic Church, 42021 LA-621, Gonzales, Louisiana. Rosary at 9:15 a.m. Committal service will follow at Hope Haven Cemetery, Hwy 30. Pallbearers honored to serve, Cody Dardeau, Clint Smiley, Chase Smiley, Logan Mire, Avery Acosta, and Aaron Smiley. Arrangements by Ourso Funeral Home, Gonzales, Louisiana. Special thanks and appreciation to Bridgeway Hospice and Griswold Home Care for Baton Rouge who provided care and comfort for Sandy and her family during her final days. In lieu of flowers the family ask that donations be made in Sandy’s honor to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
