Sandra Sandy Joyce Barrow Brooks Leader

Born on March 16th,1945, a native of Fernandina Beach, Fla and a longtime resident of Gonzales, LA, passed away in her home Monday December 9th, 2013 surrounded by loved ones after a courageous battle with breast cancer. She was a retired bakery manager from Leblanc's Payless. As an active member of St. John's church, she worked as a sponsor with their RCIA program and served proudly on the board of directors with the Dreams Come True organization and volunteered her time at Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center. Preceded in death by her father, Windle Grove Brooks Jr., mother, Helen Adams Brooks Love, stepfather, Henry C. Love, son in law, Donnie Reynolds and stepson, Greg Leader. She is survived by her loving husband, David Leader, 3 sisters, Linda Allen, Gonzales, LA, Mary Ross, St Paul, MN, Laura Hauck, Little Canada, MN, brother, Windle G & Brenda Brooks, Pembroke Pines, FL, 2 Sons, Jason Barrow, Gonzales, LA and Todd and Tammy Barrow, French Settlement, LA, daughter Robin R & Chris Diez, Gonzales, LA, step daughter, Tari & Bobby Allen, Gonzales, LA Grandchildren, Shantel & Patrick, Justin, Courtney, Zachary & Cameron. Step grandchildren, Myranda Tagan, Lakin, Gilbert, Christopher, Megan and Alyssa. Great grandchildren, Caley and Ryder and step great grandchildren, Aubry, Gavin and Luke. Also numerous nieces and nephews, friends and extended family. Special thanks to her niece, Bonnie Brooks Tharp for her caregiving, love and support. The family would also like to thank the entire staff of St Joseph's Hospice. Service to be held at St. John the Evangelist church, Prairieville, La on Friday, December 13, 2013. Visitation from 9:30 am to 11:30 am with services to follow. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Dreams Come True or Mary Bird Cancer Center in her honor.
