Born on March 13, 1949, in Slidell, LA, Sandy was a graduate of Slidell High School. She later made her home in Walker, LA, where she built a life centered on family and simple joys.
Sandy worked most of her life as an Imaging Assistant for Woman's Hospital, where she was known for her dedication and compassionate spirit. Outside of work, she found happiness in reading and took great pride in maintaining her beautiful flower garden. Above all, Sandy treasured her family.
She leaves behind her loving husband, James Cecil Moran Jr.; children, James Cecil Moran III and Jillian Noelle Moran Marcotte; sister, Diane Graves; grandchildren, Christopher Rigney, Samantha Margaret Rigney, and Ryleigh Renee Moran; and great-grandchild, Carrigan James Rigney. She also leaves behind many extended family members and friends who will cherish her memory.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard Rist and Dot Athey; and brothers, Lenny Rist and Steve Rist.
Sandy will be remembered for her quiet strength, kind heart, and unwavering love for those closest to her. Her warmth, generosity, and the beauty she cultivated in both her garden and her relationships will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Though she will be deeply missed, her memory will continue to bring comfort and inspiration to her family and friends.
Visitation will be at Ourso Funeral Home on Sunday, August 2, 2026, in Gonzales, LA, beginning at 9:30 AM. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will follow at 11:00 AM.
