Sharon Dykes Compton age 74, of Gonzales, La passed away on April 11, 2023. Sharon was born July 27, 1948 to the late Bertrum Valdean and Marilynn Katherine Dykes. Sharon graduated in 1966 from Broadmoor High School in Baton Rouge and received a BA degree from the University of Southwestern Louisiana in Lafayette. Sharon worked for many years in the private and public school systems in Louisiana, eventually retiring from the State Department of Education. Sharon married her college sweetheart, Richard in 1972 and together they raised their 3 sons. They were married for 41 years before his passing in 2013. She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Todd and Nicole, Ricky and Janet; Nick and Ashley; grandchildren, Brittney, Dean, Zeph, Kimberly, Daniel and Khloe; and great-grandson Beck. Visitation for Sharon will be held on Monday, April17, 2023 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church 15208 LA-73, Prairieville, LA 70769 from 9:30 am until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am. She will be laid to rest in Hope Haven Garden of Memory Cemetery, Prairieville, La. Pallbearers will be Chris Barrient, Brett Dykes, Brandon O’Deay, Shane Mouch, Conrad Oubre and Cody Frederic.
