Shirley Lambert Hernandez passed away surrounded by family on January 3, 2023 at the age of 86. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend to many. She is survived by her son Don Hernandez (Sonya) and daughter Debra Hernandez Benzine; her grandchildren, Chase Hernandez, Erika Gautreau (John), Darry Benzine and Briana Savoy (Tyler); her great-grandchildren, Joshua and Austin Gautreau and Max Savoy; and her siblings Gene Lambert, Arlene Moran, Clark Lambert, Linda Lambert and Dean Lambert (Karen). She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, family members and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents Emery and Clonise Lambert, her brother-in -law Perry Moran, and her sister-in-law Linda S. Lambert.
Shirley was a strong-willed woman who loved her family unconditionally. She was a retired employee of Neese Industries, and a proud member of the Duckroost neighborhood watch. She would always cook lunch on Sundays for family to come over and visit. She was witty until the very end. Her stories and her ability to make anybody laugh will surely be missed.
A special thank you to her sisters Linda and Arlene for the care they have given her during her last years. We would also like to thank the staff and doctors at OLOL Ascension for their care and compassion during her final days.
Visitation will be held at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in St. Amant on Saturday, January 7, 2023, beginning at 9:00AM, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00AM. The interment will follow in the church mausoleum. Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Randy Moran, Chase Hernandez, Bryce Lambert, John Gautreau, Darry Benzine, and Tyler Savoy. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Full of Grace Café. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.oursofh.com for the Hernandez family.
