Sidney was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. He dedicated much of his working life to the pipefitting industry as a member of Local 198. He will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his hard work, and the many cherished memories he leaves behind.
Sidney is survived by his loving wife, Glenda Ann Gautreau Hayes; his daughter, Sherry Hayes Mitchell and her husband, Skip Mitchell, Sister Helen Petite, Grandson Dustin Decoteau, Daughter in Law Hannah Decoteau; Step grandchildren, Logan and Talon Mitchell; Great-grandchildren, Kol Decoteau and a new blessing to arrive in December.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Norton Hayes and Lillian Hebert Hayes; his sisters, Mercedes Benoit and Hazel LeBlanc; and his brothers, Pershing Hebert and Russell Hayes.
Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation that will be held at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 15208 Highway 73, Prairieville, Louisiana 70769, on October 29, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 15208 Highway 73, Prairieville, Louisiana 70769, on October 29, 2026, at 11:00 am. A Committal Service will be held at Hope Haven Garden of Memory Mausoleum, 37577 Duplessis Rd., Prairieville, LA, on October 29, 2026, at 12:00 pm.
Serving as pallbearers will be Dustin Decoteau, Logan Mitchell, Skip Mitchell, Paul Gautreau, Bryant Gautreau, and Jarrod Decoteau. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Earl Gautreau, Warren Holmes, and Paul Gautreau.
Sidney will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His memory will forever be cherished in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
