

Sidney “Doug” McBride passed away on March 15, 2025 at the age of 74. He was born and raised in Baton Rouge, LA. As a young man he made his way to the bayou and spent many years as a commercial fisherman. He and his wife moved back to Gonzales where they ran the original Christian Brothers Seafood for 17 years; they retired in 2024. In his spare time, he enjoyed watching LSU sports, Saints football and NASCAR races. He also liked to spend time at the casino. But most of all he enjoyed having a good time with his family and friends.
Doug is survived by his wife of 37 years, Sally Matherne McBride; his daughter, Sonya Hamby (Don); stepdaughter, Irene Pfister (Doonie); sister, Carolyn Bounds; grandchildren, Joey Badeaux (Katie), Raquel Dumas (Michael), David “DJ” Chabert (Amber), Daren Pfister, Ethen Steaples (Taia), Belle Ledet, and Clint Hamby; 11 great-grandchildren and numerous family members and friends. Doug was preceded in death by his parents, Charles “Chuck” and Etheleen “Mamoo” McBride; stepdaughter, Jennielynn Russ (Rusty); and sister, Becky Dozer (Jack).
Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Doug’s Life on Saturday, March 22, 2025 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Ourso Funeral Home, 13533 Airline Hwy. Gonzales, LA 70737.
