Sybil Vicknair Retif

A native of New Orleans and a resident of Prairieville, Sybil passed away Saturday, June 24, 2017 at the age of 78. Sybil was a retired secretary for St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church with 20+ years of service. A visitation will be held at St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church on Wednesday, June 28, 2017 from 9:00 am until a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am celebrated by Rev. Eric Gyan. Interment will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory in Baton Rouge. Sybil is survived by 3 daughters and 1 son-in-law: Leslie Diez, Leah Olinde and spouse Brian and Lynn Marchand, 1 son and daughter-in-law: Joey Retif and spouse Kim, 1 sister-in-law: Eva Vicknair, 12 grandchildren: Justin and Kelby Diez, Michael and Katelin Olinde, Blain Marchand (Ashley), Bryce Marchand (Falon), Boyd Marchand and spouse Kristin, Bailey and Brylie Marchand, Steven Fontenot (Harli), Chasitie White and spouse Dakota and Kylie Retif, 5 great grandchildren and 3 expected great grandchildren.

Sybil is preceded in death by her parents: Wilton and Elvire Dufrense Vicknair, 1 son-in-law: Johnny Marchand, Jr. and 2 brothers and 1 sister-in-law: Wilton J. Vicknair (Ona Lee) and Irvin Vicknair. Serving as pallbearers for Sybil will be Justin Diez, Michael Olinde, Blain Marchand, Bryce Marchand, Boyd Marchand and Steven Fontenot. The family would like to thank New Century Hospice Nurse Becky Harris and Nurse's Aide Trisha Thomas.
