Theresa Marie Bourgeois

Theresa Marie Bourgeois a native of Baton Rouge, LA and resident of Prairieville, LA, died on October 14th, 2023, at the age of 56. Theresa was born on June 12, 1967, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She is survived by her husband René Bourgeois; and sons, Beau Bourgeois and Jacques (Autumn) Bourgeois. In addition, she is survived by her father, Vance Thomas Jr; her mother, Olivia Thomas; her brothers, Vance Thomas III, Jason (Lisa) Thomas; her sister, Kristi (Kevin) McCullough, her granddaughter, Valorie Monet Bourgeois; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Truman Livingston, whom passed away in battle during World War II in the South Pacific, Vance Thomas Sr. and Jean Thomas, John and Winnie Selman. Theresa is a proud LSU scholar in education. Theresa was an educator that loved teaching and working with her students for them to be as successful as possible under her wings. She dearly loved her family and her dogs (there were many) and would be around family for any of their activities showing her support to her fullest extent. She had a love for gardening and growing sunflowers which could reach up to 12 feet tall. Theresa was very involved in both of her son's Boy Scout adventures, and her youngest son, Jacques, Eagle Scout project for St. John’s the Evangelist Church drainage to keep water out of the library. Theresa was very involved in the church functions, such as bible study, vacation bible school, and the church’s fair. Another favorite hobby was tailgating for LSU football games during her husband René’s playing days, as well as after her graduation. Theresa was a very selfless and positive person. She was an inspiration to her family, friends and those fighting Ovarian Cancer. She always had a smile on her face and made sure others around her were happy regardless of how she felt. A special thanks to her longtime friend Kyra Fontenot and close family friend Deon Landry. In Lieu of Flowers, the family asks donations to be made to the Ovarian Cancer Society in memory of Theresa. Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation which will be held at Ourso Funeral Home in Gonzales from 5:00PM to 8:00PM with the prayer of the Rosary at 7:00pm on Friday, October 20, 2023. Visitation will resume at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Prairieville beginning at 10:00AM on Saturday, October 21, 2023 until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00AM.
