Obituary of Valerie Melanie Strecker

Ourso Funeral Home

Valerie Melanie Strecker, born on March 4th, 1984, was a multi-talented artist whose ability to find beauty in the everyday inspired all who were blessed to know her. Valerie loved spending time with friends and family, always pouring creativity, compassion, and life into others. From sunsets to seashells, Valerie enjoyed exploring the rich colors and textures found in nature, using them as inspiration for creating unique paintings, jewelry, and graphic design artworks. The magic of Disney held a special place in her heart and was a candy shop of creativity which inspired Valerie to dream without limits. Not only was Valerie talented and beautiful inside and out, but she was strong. She fought her battle with a resiliency recognized by not only her friends and family but even the most experienced doctors. She truly fulfilled the meaning of her name…Valerie: Valiant Warrior, Strong, Brave, Fierce. Valerie’s Fiancé, Brandon Maher, stood by her side throughout both the joyous times and the difficult, offering unwavering support and love throughout their relationship. Although their time together was cut short, it was filled with adventure, love, and dedication. Valerie loved animals and would have adopted every cat and dog if possible! In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to “Animal Assistance League of Slidell” or your local animal shelter. Valerie lived life to the fullest, going through every day with intention and making the most of each moment. As followers of Christ, we are called to let God’s love shine through us to brighten this world. Valerie’s radiant light shined brightly, bringing joy and love to many. Valerie will be greatly missed, but her story of perseverance, hope and strength will continue to inspire many in the years to come. Valerie is survived by her mother Cindy Nagy Strecker, brother John S. Strecker, Grandmother Mary A. Strecker, Grandfather Michael A. Nagy, Fiancé Brandon Maher, and many uncles, aunts and cousins who will greatly miss her. Preceded in death by her father, Stephen J. Strecker, Paternal Grandfather William I. Strecker, Maternal Grandmother Ann Y. Nagy and Step Grandmother Elizabeth B. Nagy. Valerie’s Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, March 6th at five o’clock in the afternoon at Palmettos on the Bayou. The service will be held on the expansive back covered patio, so there is plenty of room to social distance if so desired. All friends and family are welcome to attend as we celebrate by sharing our memories of Valerie and view some of her beautiful artwork she created. Finger foods and drinks will be provided.
