Willis Samuel Abraham Beckworth, fondly known as “Mr. Beck,” peacefully departed this mortal life on Friday, August 30, 2024, at the distinguished age of 84. He is survived by his companion of 41 years, Vicky Juneau; his son, Glenn Beckworth (Rhonda); his grandchildren, Courtney Lockerman (Eric), Katie Narvaez (Juan), and Christina Caruso (Shelby); and his great-grandchildren, Annabelle Lockerman, Beck Lockerman, Cannon Caruso, and Hazel Narvaez. Beck is also survived by his siblings, Ford Beckworth, Myrtle Hogbin, Merita Oswald, Janice Yee, Beverline Walters, and Janie Jenkins. He is preceded in death by his parents, Abraham and Lola Beckworth, and his siblings, Christine Oxendine, Clementine Schulze, Jerry Beckworth, and Juanita Phole.
Given that his early years were spent on a thriving dairy farm in Baxley, GA, Beck learned the value of hard work at an early age. He cultivated this work ethic throughout his industrious life and prospered as a small-business owner dedicated to the ever-changing Gonzales community. Beck appreciated the beauty of the Louisiana landscape and spent many a joyous day fishing, hunting, and navigating the sky as a private pilot. He will be remembered as an honest and supportive man – always willing to speak his mind and serve when needed. Beck loved his family, and his posterity will remember him as a truly remarkable patriarch.
Beck’s family wishes to extend a special thanks to all the doctors, nurses, and hospice staff at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center – your care and compassion carried Beck through his final moments, and we appreciate your dedication and kindness.
A memorial service in honor of Beck will be held on Friday, September 6, 2024, at Ourso Funeral Home located at 13533 Airline Highway, Gonzales, LA 70737.
