Wm. Ted Hullum

He leaves behind his wife of 45 years, Jo Ann Wyatt Hullum and daughter Jennifer Hullum. He was the proud PawPaw to Joel. His siblings are Jerrol “JC” Hullum (Sue) of Vicksburg, Mississippi and Debbie Wallace of Ozark, Missouri. Also, his son-in-law, Stephen Hernandez and was known to many as Papa Ted.

Graduating from Warren Central High School he attended Hinds Junior College and Mississippi State

University earning a degree in Ornamental Horticulture and Garden Center Management. Through high school and college, he worked at Faulk’s Farm and Garden Center in Vicksburg, Mississippi. After college he moved to Dutchtown, Louisiana where he was known as “Ted at Fred’s” while employed at Fred’s Greenhouses. He then began working for Home Depot where he served as Department Head over the Garden Center while opening the Garden Center at three different stores. Before retiring he became the Department Head of Receiving. He retired from the Gonzales store after 28 years of service.

Ted enjoyed his Horticulture profession and maintained a Louisiana Horticulture License along with a Nursery Certification. As an avid hunter he was instrumental along with his wife, Jo Ann, in the development of the Ascension Parish 4-H Shooting Sports program.

After retirement he enjoyed hunting, gardening, and ceramics. Ted was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many. He served as a Deacon at Dutchtown Baptist Church, taught Children’s Sunday School, and was a member of Gideons International. He had a strong faith and relationship with God. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Michele Virginia Hernandez; sister, Linda Gipson and his parents, Jerroll and Edith Hullum.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Jerrol Campbell, Bill Cummings, Jr., Stephen Hernandez, Jerry James, Justin Miles, and Leigh Rogers.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Dutchtown Baptist Church or the Gideons International.

A visitation will be held on Monday, October 20, 2025 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Dutchtown Baptist Church, 36495 C. Braud Rd, Prairieville, LA, 70769. An additional visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 21, from 9:00 to 11:00 AM, with the funeral service to follow.

Ted will be laid to rest at Antioch Baptist Cemetery in Vicksburg, MS.
