Bessie D Gresham Swinnea

Bessie De Swinnea, 94, of Gonzales and Luling, left us on this 26th day of June, 2011. She was born to James and Della Beatrice Gresham in April 20, 1917 at North Zulch, TX. She passed away at The Heights of Gonzales Nursing Home on June 26, 2011. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Swinnea and two sons, Robert S. Swinnea of Corpus Christi, TX and Tom H. Swinnea of Beeville, TX. Survivors include one daughter, Linda Nesloney and husband Robert of Belmont, TX; three sons, Ralph C. Swinnea and Donald Swinnea of Luling, TX, John Smith and wife Teri of Alpine, TX. She leaves grandchildren Jason Nesloney and Robert Nesloney, Jr. of Belomont; great grandsons Todd Nesloney of Brenham and Chase Nesloney of Lafayette, Louisiana; grandsons Brian Swinnea and Thomas Donald Swinnea of Henderson, NV; grand-daughters Dawn Beruman of Lancaster, Renee Williams of Austin, and Julie Withers of Oklahoma City; Jessica Swinnea Thomas and children of San Antonio; Jonelle Smith Lubbers of Dallas, Andrea Smith Miller of Coppell; Sara Hipp of Liberty Tnship, Cincinatti, Ohio; and grandsons Travis Smith and Austin Smith of Alpine,TX. Bessie Swinnea was an insurance executive with Great American Life & Health for many years. Her general agency employed 20 agents, and she won top awards year after year as top state producer. After retiring from her position in the insurance field, she moved to Luling and managed a mobile home park near Luling from 1979 untill 1995. She was loved by many and will truly be missed. A special thank you to Dr. Vaz and Dr. Medillin, Millie Stapp of Belmont all the workers at The Heights, and Hospice. In lieu of traditional remembrances, memorials may be made in Bessie’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association, or Hospice of South Texas in Yoakum, TX. A Graveside Service will be at the Glenwood Cemetery, in Beeville, TX on Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at 2:00 PM and a Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
