Bisenta Rodriguez

In the wee hours of Sunday morning, February 27, 2011, Bisenta Rodriguez, was received by our Lord, Jesus Christ.

Bisenta was 87. She had just celebrated her birthday last month on January 22nd. She was born in 1924 in Karnes City, Texas, to Pedro Rodriguez and Delfina Hernandez. She married Ascencion (John) Rodriguez on May 7, 1941. There were six children to her marriage; Delfina Rodriguez Schaeffer, Mary Jane Vera-Whalley, Ascencion (John) Rodriguez Jr and wife Edith, Richard Rodriguez, Robert Lee Rodriguez and wife Dorothy, Christine and husband John Rodriguez-Springhetti.

Bisenta has 16 grandchildren; Joy, Nancy, Kathleen, Faith, Martin, Viviana, Gabriel, Lisa, Linda, Ascencion (John) III, Jesus (Jesse), Rene, Roberta, Roderica, Jeannie and Jordan. Of these Grandchildren there are thirty (30) great-grandchildren and two (2) great-great-grandchildren.

Biesenta was one of seven children. Her siblings via her father’s marriage to Delfina Hernandez were Antonio H. Rodriguez and Santos H. Rodriguez. Her second family siblings via her father’s marriage to Maria Salinas were Pablo S. Rodriguez, Ricardo S. Rodriguez, Aurora Rodriguez and Jose Rodriguez.

All during her life, Bisenta was a devout Catholic. She worked in nursing most of her life and cared for her family. She was a devoted mother and friend.

Two children have preceded her in death, Delfina Schaeffer and Richard Rodriguez; husband, Ascencion (John) Rodriguez; great-grandson, Frank A. Santos; siblings, Antonio, Santos, Aurora and Pablo Rodriguez have also preceded her in death.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Rene Rodriguez, Martin Vera, Ascencion Rodriguez III, Gabriel Vera, Jesus (Jesse) Rodriguez and Jordan Rodriguez.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 1, 2011, from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Buffington Funeral Home Chapel in Gonzales with a rosary recited at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at 10 a.m. at Scared Heart Catholic Church in Gonzales with burial to follow at St James Catholic Cemetery in Gonzales.
