William Maurice Breitschopf
September 1, 1958 – November 19, 2021
William Maurice Breitschopf known as Reesie by family and friends was born on September 1, 1958 in Gonzales Texas to William Richard and JoAnn (Bullard) Breitschopf. He grew up in Gonzales, graduating from Gonzales High School in 1976. After graduation he attended Technical School in Waco Texas studying diesel mechanics. He joined the Army and became a track vehicle mechanic at Fort Knox Kentucky. He was a member of the Army National Guard for 6 years. He worked a variety of jobs over his lifetime, butcher and barbecuing at the family owned Breitschopf Grocery and Market, mechanic with Ford Motor Co., oilfield with Nowsco, Halliburton, Western Co. of NA and South Texas Tongs, truck driver long and short haul, bread delivery man with Richter’s Bakery, and salesman, and he enjoyed all of them. His final job was with Johnson Oil Company.
At various times he has lived in Waco Texas, Knoxville Kentucky, Victoria Texas, LaGrange Texas and back to Gonzales where he settled down to raise a family. He was blessed with 3 children, Holly, Doug and Garrett Breitschopf. He loved travelling and camping, visiting New Mexico, Las Vegas and various state parks in the great state of Texas. He was a Boy Scout leader, never missing a meeting or campout telling stories, guiding or just listening. He always gave 110% to whatever he was doing whether it was learning a new skill or supporting family. He enjoyed supporting his kids in their sports activities and theatre. He especially enjoyed cooking and barbecuing for family and friends. He was always there to give a helping hand to anyone who needed it. He was always upbeat but didn’t hesitate to tell you like it was and he was usually right.
