Alfred F. Murphy “AL”, age 71, passed away January 1, 2017. Al served in the Metro Police Department from 1969-2001. He was one of the founding members of the MNPD Mounted Patrol. Preceded in death by his parents Lonnie and Bessie Murphy; his partner of 17 years Susan Gaines. Survived by his loving son Shawn Murphy (Shelley); two granddaughters Brooklynn Ann and Elizabeth Grace; “Friday Crew”; and extended friends and family. Family will receive friends Saturday Jan. 7th from 11am-7pm and Sunday from 1pm-2pm with the funeral service at 2pm at Forest Lawn Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Metro Police Benevolent Association.
