Allen Treadway, age 86, passed away Saturday, July 7, 2018. He was born Sunday, October 25, 1931 in Beckwith, West Virginia and is preceded in death by his parents, Allen and Flossie Settle Treadway and son-in-law, Ed Ripley.

Mr. Treadway was first and foremost a man of faith; a devoted servant of God whose honesty and integrity were without question. He served in various leadership roles in the churches he attended, and loved to worship God through his musical gifts by singing and playing his guitar and banjo. During the 1950's most fathers were not very involved in the raising of their children. The men would work and provide for family while the mothers would take care of the children and the home. Allen, however, poured himself into the lives of his children, teaching them by word and example. His wife Nellie was the love of his life and he adored his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mr. Treadway served in the US Army and retired a loyal and dedicated truck driver for Kroger Company. He loved planting and working in the garden to provide fresh produce for family and friends, and even raised cattle and horses at times.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Nellie Stone Treadway; daughter, Debbie Ripley; son, Greg (Diane) Treadway; 5 grandchildren, Rachael Ripley, Alan (Amber) Ripley, Ryan Ripley, Cortnie Treadway and Jennifer Treadway; 6 great-grandchildren, Charlotte Ripley, Lylah Ripley, Seth Ripley, Carmen Treadway, Arabella Ripley and Vayda Ripley.

A celebration of life will be conducted 12:00 Thursday, July 12, 2018 in the chapel at Forest Lawn Funeral Home with Bishop Billy Shoulders; Rev. Jimmy Roberts and Rev. Jack Stone officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Dwayne Tate, Gary Thompson, Davy Mayes, Jimmy Ivey, Gary Baughman and Rob Guthrie.

My Great Uncle Allen was a gentle giant. A man who loved the Lord so very much. Whenever I needed prayer, I made sure to ask Allen. He provided calmness. I loved to make him laugh by acting silly around him. I think sometimes he didn't know how to react to me. Lol. God bless you Allen. You will be missed.
