

Alma Lee Litton, 84 of Nashville, TN passed away December 7th, 2015. She was known for her pretty hair, banana bread, ‘Nana’ muffins, and her loving personality. Alma, lovingly known as “Nana” to the many children whom she kept, including her eight grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren, was born to Ollie T. and Nannie Lee Whitman, in Nashville on March 3, 1931.
In various segments of her life, Alma was a homemaker, a lifetime member of Hillhurst Baptist Church (now Faith Baptist), a Sunday school teacher, and a cashier at Food Town and she owned several grocery stores; but nothing filled her with more joy than cooking for, caring for, and spending time with her family whom she loved and who loved her. She enjoyed spending time with her Bingo group and game nights with her family that went late into the night.
She is preceded in death by her grandson, Carter Litton and by her brother JC (Betty) Whitman.
She is survived and fondly remembered by her loving husband of 66 years, Clarence Litton; children, Sheila (Steve) Pemberton, Sharon (Bruce) Gellin, and Eddie (Jana) Litton; grandchildren, Jenna Pemberton, Josh (Dana) Pemberton, Easton and Eli Litton, Christopher (Noelle) Jackson, Brent (Ashlee) Jackson and Graham Gellin, and great-grandchildren Harper, Oliver, Terralyn, Hunter, Brooklyn, and Caitlyn; brothers Jack (Betty) Whitman and Joe (Hazel) Whitman.
Her pallbearers will be her 6 grandsons along with honorary pallbearers Daniel Smith, Michael Moore, Brock, Cole, and Clay Williams. A celebration of her life will be held at 12:00pm, Thursday December 10th at McFerrrin Baptist Church, 431 W. Old Hickory Boulevard.
Interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be Wednesday, December 9th 5-9 pm and Thursday at 10am until the service at noon.
Memorial contributions may be made to Sarah Cannon Cancer Research Institute’s Breast Center or Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt.
