Amy was preceded in death by her father, Jack Mencer; her paternal grandparents, George Mencer and Myrtle Pewitt-Mencer; and her maternal grandparents, Floyd L. Carlton, Sr., and Dorothy Oeser Carlton.
Amy was a graduate of Hendersonville High School and later earned a degree in Photography from Nossi College of Art. She worked in the medical office field for several years.
Prior to an unfortunate medical sentinel event that changed the course of her life, Amy truly lived life to the fullest.
Amy’s creativity and talents extended far and wide—from photography and gardening to crafting, sewing, and crocheting. She was also an amazing cook who loved sharing meals with those she loved.
Some of Amy’s greatest joys in life were spending time with her son, Kody; her granddaughter, Sadie; and her beloved dogs, Nash and Willie. She loved the outdoors, driving her Jeep, going fishing, Alabama football, playing bingo, celebrating holidays, and enjoying family vacations at the beach.
Amy is survived by her son, Kody Lee Hinkle; her granddaughter, Sadie Ann Hinkle, the absolute light of her life; her mother, Linda Carlton Mencer; her sister, Lisa Mencer-Mull, and brother-in-law, Jeff Mull; her niece, Allie Mull; one uncle, Floyd L. Carlton, Jr.; and a number of cousins and extended family members. In addition to family, Amy is also survived by her lifelong friend, Mikey Thompson, who will deliver her eulogy.
A Celebration of Life will be conducted on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Goodlettsville, Tn at 2:00 PM. Visitation with family and friends will be from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
For those desiring, in lieu of flowers, a trust for Amy’s granddaughter, Sadie, will be established by Linda with any donations received. These donations can be accepted via Venmo to @Linda-Mencer. The family respectfully requests no flowers.
Amy will be remembered for her creativity, her love of family, her beloved dogs, her generous heart, and the joy she brought to everyone who knew her.
