Ivarene married the love of her life Roy Allen in 1951 when she was a senior in high school. After graduating from DuPont High School in Old Hickory, TN, Ivarene was a stay at home mom when her kids were small. She followed her husband’s career and lived in Aiken, SC, Old Hickory, TN and for the past 56 years has been a resident of Hendersonville, TN. Ivarene was a substitute teacher for many years. Then, she worked at a daycare center where she saw the need for childcare for younger babies. From the late 70s to mid 80s, Ivarene opened and ran Lullabye Nursery to take care of babies that were 6 weeks to 15 months. She was a devoted Christian and involved in church throughout her life whether she was in the nursery, a bible study group or worship. She enjoyed traveling and reading about birds and flowers. Ivarene loved and cherished all of her family but she lived each day of the past 60 years to give her special needs daughter Regina the best life possible.
Ivarene is survived by her son, Roy Kenneth Allen, Jr. (Pam), Knoxville, TN; daughter Regina Allen, Hendersonville, TN; daughter Renee Allen Rehfeld (Ross), Seguin, TX; daughter-in-law, Melissa Allen Carter; grandchildren Stacey Williams (David), Stan Allen (Darby), Kelly Leverette (Robert), Remington Rehfeld and Rylan Rehfeld; great-grandchildren, Mason, Nathan and Sydney Williams, Drake, Brock, Hadley and Leighton Allen, Dalton and Dylan Leverette; sisters Betty Estep and Lynetta Kelso; many nieces, nephews, and other family members.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years Roy Allen, her son Richard Allen, her parents Robert and Louise Cole, her sisters Janie Allen and Bobbie McClung.
The family would like to thank Heidi Stave for taking such good care of Ivarene and making her life filled with love, joy and laughter.
