

Mrs. Betty Lou Butler, daughter of the late Otis Tisdale and Eula Mae Cottrell, was born on December 2, 1932, transitioned from this world on September 25, 2025. She attended public schools in Philadelphia, Mississippi. She married Willie Howard Butler and from that union they were blessed with seven children. Two of her girls predeceased her, Veda Lou Powers and Harriet Cardova Butler.
In 1962, they moved their family to Nashville. Betty was a stay-at-home mom until after their last child was born. She later started employment at St. Thomas Hospital, where she worked many years as a nurse’s aid. Later, she busied herself with several home-based businesses, such as Amway, Avon, Princess House, etc.
Betty and family attended Cowan Street Missionary Baptist Church for many years. She later united with Victory Fellowship Church, where she was an active member for over 16 years. For the past many years, Betty was a member of Word of Life Christian Center, International, where Dr. Alexander Arthur is Founder and Pastor.
Betty is survived by her children Johnny (Angela), Levan (Betty), Willie (Nancy), Eula Daniels (Jackie) and Beverly Simpson (Ernest). Surviving grandchildren are Larrice Carter, Antoine Jerrell Carter (girlfriend Brittany Hardy), Rodrick Butler (Amy), Katina Jenae Hester, Yolanda Jeanette Powers, Kevin Powers, Rhonda Campbell, Shemeka Forte (Eric), Willie James Butler, II, (Chelsea), Gregory Butler (Kendra), Teronda Bowman (Varshawn), Peatra Anderson, Willie Howard Butler, and many great grandchildren and a lot of close friends.
The family expresses heartfelt gratitude to Eula and Jackie for caring for our mother for the
past ten years.
