Bobby Phelan, 94, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 8, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on February 28, 1932, and grew up in the Union Hill and Lickton communities.
Bobby was a hardworking man who learned the value of dedication and perseverance from an early age. Growing up on the farm, he worked with mules and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He carried that strong work ethic throughout his life and later worked for Ford Motor Company, where he built a career and provided for his family.
Bobby proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. His military service was a source of pride and reflected the strength and sense of duty he carried throughout his life.
Above all, Bobby cherished his family. Bobby is preceded in death by his father, Charles Horace Phelan; his mother, Ruby Irene (Muh) Phelan; siblings, Helen Marie, Vera Mae, Larry Curtis, Doris Coleen, and Lou Iris Phelan.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Phelan; his sons, Kevin Phelan, Troy Phelan (Andrea), and Jeffery Phelan; his grandson, Walter Phelan; brothers, Sammy Eugene, and Irvin Richard Phelan Sr.; and Camila and Victor Perez.
Bobby's life was one of hard work, service, family, and simple pleasures. He will be remembered for the life he built, the family he loved, and the many memories he leaves behind.
His family is grateful that he was surrounded by those who loved him during his final moments. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his family and all who knew him.
