Dorothy "Dot" Cude Alsup

Dorothy C. “Dot” Alsup passed away at home on Monday, March 23, 2026 at the age of 94. She was born on February 29, 1932 in Old Hickory, TN. She lived most of her life in Goodlettsville, TN and relocated to Cross Plains, TN in her retirement years. She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Wilma Smith Cude, and her husband Howard Alsup.

Dorothy’s love and commitment to her Lord Jesus Christ was demonstrated through her many years of service to her family, her students, and her community. She was a beloved first grade teacher at Gra-Mar Elementary School for most of her career. She served her community in many ways including delivering meals, visiting shut-ins, and sharing produce from their garden. She shared her love of music in leading children in her church and volunteering in the local school during her retirement years.

Surviving to cherish her memory are her sons, Jeff (Marsha) Alsup and Mike (Lisa) Alsup; five grandchildren, Chris (Kelli) Alsup, Meredith (Michele) Hintz, Brad (Emily) Alsup, Michael (Rachel) Alsup, Laura (Phillip) Galbreath; eleven great—grandchildren, Alexis (Jake) Duffer, Taylor (Tyler) Dobbins, Drake Alsup, Carson Alsup, Cole Alsup, Harper Hintz, Ryan Alsup, Grant Alsup, Colby Alsup, Adalynn Galbreath, Aiden Galbreath; five great-great-grandchildren, Clint Duffer, Jack Duffer, Lillian Duffer, Ryker Dobbins and Stone Dobbins.

Family and friends will gather to remember Dorothy at a visitation to be held at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 1150 South Dickerson Road, Goodlettsville, TN 37072 on March 27, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. followed by a Celebration of Life at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Eric Genier officiating.

Burial will be held in the Garden of Devotion II at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens following the Celebration of Life.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Dorothy's name to: Nashville Rescue Mission or St . Jude Hospital.
