Douglas was a longtime member of Fatherland Baptist Church. Throughout his life he enjoyed simple pleasures and the things that brought him close to the outdoors and community. He loved horses and spent time grooming and riding them at the Nashville Fairgrounds. He also enjoyed visiting horse barns throughout Davidson, Williamson, and Robertson counties. Those who knew him also remember his fondness for milkshakes and the quiet joys of everyday life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Hannibal Johnson and Mary Louise Blackman Johnson.
He was also preceded in death by his siblings and half-siblings: Jack Bennette Johnson, Mary Elizabeth Johnson, Mack Clinton Johnson, Mildred Virginia Preston, James Leslie Johnson, Charles Edward Johnson, William Lucian Johnson, Charles Edwin Johnson, Dorothy Gertrude Johnson, Audie Irene Johnson, Haskell Clayton Johnson, and Eva Dovie Larkin.
Douglas is survived by several nieces and nephews, as well as great-nieces and great-nephews.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, March 11, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Forest Lawn Funeral Home.
A graveside service will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Fatherland Baptist Church in his memory.
