
Frances Marie Legat Suddath Smith, age 99, died peacefully at home in Cedar Hill, TN on June 22, 2015. She was born in Chicago, IL on September 20, 1915, grew up in Washington State and was a long-time resident of Semmes, AL where she lived with her husband of 50 years, the love of her life, Clifford Judge Smith, who preceded her in death in 2005.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, Rosa Uschan Doyle and Franz Legat, two loving step-fathers, Anton “Papa” Zinter and Joseph “Dad” Doyle, her first husband, James Clifford Suddath, Sr., three brothers, Frank Zinter, Bill Zinter, and Tony Zinter, two of her sons, James Clifford “Jim” Suddath, Jr. and Gerald Eugene “Jerry” Suddath, and two of her grandsons, Gary Dean Suddath and Todd Richard Suddath.
She is survived by her sister, Agnes Jackson of Clarks Summit, PA, two daughters, Elizabeth (Dave) Burns of Cedar Hill, TN and Lisa (Andy) Hare of Helena, AL, one son, Don (Barbara) Suddath of Cumming, GA, two daughters-in-law, Lenna Suddath of Harrah, OK and Jan (Jim) Mcllvaine of Sweetwater, TN, six grandchildren, LaDonna (Randy) Whatley of Cordele, GA, Sonya Eason of Cordele, GA, Marsha (Greg) Glembin of Harrah, OK, Gene (Brenda) Suddath of Choctaw, OK, Sandi (Jim) Rehagen of Harrah, OK and Kim (Chuck) Broadus of Suwanee, GA, and two granddaughters-in-law, Jan (Scott) Suddath of Denver, NC and Kathy Suddath of Hoover, AL as well as many great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
There will be a memorial at a later date to be announced. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Mrs. Smith’s name to any Ronald McDonald House.
