Gayle Annette Smith, age 84, passed away Monday, April 12, 2021. Mrs. Smith was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana Thursday, September 24, 1936 and is preceded in death by her parents, Edwin Allen and Elma Albarez Brown.
An educator of some thirty years teaching English as a Second Language; an adventurer, having sailed around the world with her husband in a sailboat only taking five years covering 30 thousand miles and she also enjoyed reading and knitting. She was a member of the Women's Missionary Union; First Baptist Church, Niceville, Florida; Inglewood Baptist Church, Nashville, Tennessee; First Baptist Church Ashland City, Tennessee.
Mrs. Smith is survived by her husband of 66 years, Jerry Dean Smith; children, Jeannie (Greg) Torres, Stacy (Jill) Smith, Kahne (Donald) Vaughan, David (Lisa) Smith; sisters, Barbara (Roy) Moran, Judy (Bob) DuBos, Sue Harding; nine grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be conducted Thursday, April 15, 2021 at 4:00 in the afternoon with Rev. Nathan Washburn officiating. Burial will be 9:00 Friday morning in Middle Tennessee State Veteran's Cemetery, McCrory Lane, Nashville.
Family and friends will gather to remember Mrs. Smith at a visitation Thursday, April 15, 2021 from 11:00 until the 4:00 service at Forest Lawn Funeral Home 1150 S. Dickerson Pike Goodlettsville, Tennessee
